Why Coding Bootcamps Are Still Worth It (If You Pick the Right One)
The coding bootcamp industry has a reputation problem. Too many programs promise job placement and deliver tutorial-level projects that don’t impress hiring managers.
But here’s the thing: the best bootcamps aren’t trying to replace CS degrees. They’re trying to compress the time from ‘I want to build’ to ‘I can ship products’ down to weeks instead of years.
What separates good bootcamps from bad ones? Three things: (1) they teach you to ship, not just code; (2) they focus on modern tools and workflows; (3) they connect you to people who are hiring.
If you’re evaluating bootcamps, ask these questions: Will I have live projects by the end? Will I learn AI-assisted development? Will I get introductions to hiring managers? If the answer to any of these is no, keep looking.
The goal isn’t to become a senior engineer in 12 weeks. It’s to become employable as a junior builder who can ship. That’s achievable—if you pick the right program.
